I’ve been developing strategy since the late 1990s, though it didn’t become a formal discipline for me until later. Mostly I’ve been involved with new brands, but there have been plenty of rebranding projects too. I even rebranded a living person once (to position them at a global level), but to be honest the project posed some ethical dilemmas for me personally.

Typically, I’m contracted to augment an existing team (client side or consultancy) to help with specific strategic deliverables. Occasionally I undertake entire projects independently – from research and audit through to strategy and implementation. Less frequently, I consult purely as a member of a large project’s steering committee.

It may be a small source of pride, but one of the first brands I helped create from scratch (a telecom) is still thriving today – more than 20 years later.
